Collagen and its benefits

Collagen, as the main component of connective tissue including cartilage, bones, tendons, ligaments, and skin, is the most abundant protein in the human body which makes up around 30% of its protein composition. Collagen can also be found in other parts of the body such as blood vessels, corneas, and teeth.

Connective tissue cells called fibroblasts produce and maintain collagen. However, as people grow older, their collagen becomes fragmented, fibroblast function becomes impaired, and collagen production slows. Due to these changes, it leads to signs of aging. Hence people can intake collagen through food and health supplements such as tablets or collagen powder in their diet to minimize aging.

Potential Benefits of Collagen

Support increase muscle mass

Collagen peptides, which have reduced molecular weight to thousands or hundreds after collagen’s enzyme decomposition process, are absorbed into the same structure as cells in the body; therefore, it increases metabolism and muscle mass and improves strength. However, more research is needed to investigate the potential of collagen to increase muscle mass.

Helps relieve joint pain

Collagen helps to reduce inflammation and synthesize collagen in the body. Therefore, it can support relieving the pain for people who have pain from joint diseases such as osteoarthritis

Support hair & nail health

Collagen is a connective tissue between tissues in the body; therefore, taking enough collagen supplements may strengthen the tissues that connect hair and scalp, which play a vital role in nails and hair health

Support skin elasticity

Collagen is a unique triple-helical structure in the form of a net that can support skin elasticity. Our body produces less collagen and reduces skin elasticity as aging progresses; therefore, taking enough collagen may increase collagen production and help delay decomposition to support skin elasticity

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it
or something. I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is
wonderful blog. An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.
